I am a guest at The Learning Basket

The second to the last post of The Learning Basket's  Heart of Homeschooling blog series is by me. I am so happy to take part in this. When Mariel emailed me I knew what I was going to say.

If you have an activity now or a way of doing things and you can see, feel, realize that it is:
  • Effective
  • Fun
  • Allows you to be with your children, think quality and quantity time
  • Unhurried and respectful
  • Cultivates responsibility and kindness
  • Real
  • Creative
  • Exciting
  • Safe
  • Affordable
Would you not do it and carry on? You can read more by going over to The Learning Basket...

Books Read for January

Part of my record keeping is to list down the books my little ones read. I will keep track this year by publishing a post with the title "Books Read for Month". Each of my children set their own reading goals for the year. No book reports were required for this.
A, is into JRR Tolkien starting with:
1. The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Rings
2. The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers
Currently reading The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King
1. Heidi by Johanna Spyri
2. Matilda by Roald Dahl
Currently reading, Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist

1. Matilad by Roald Dahl

My read aloud for January is my all time favorite, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Read aloud, is me reading while everybody else listens. I am not including books that I see them read, like Science books that they do not report as part of their reading goals. Also not included are books that they have already read and are re-reading again. I suppose if we were in school this would be Literature or English...
